Another in the series of Mapping Stories, I collected leaves and plant material from the C&O Canal towpath in Hancock, Maryland. These were ecoprinted, and used as dyestuff on organic cotton to "map" the state of nature at a particular time in a particular place (actually two different times, May and July, 2024). Strata alludes to the directional sewing as well as the accumulation of signs of times past. This process of observing and recording ecological changes is part of both grounding and becoming more aware of natural environments. (L) front (R) reverse
